Update mdbase Connect on Windows
- Open the mdbase Connect desktop app and select Settings.
- Under Updates, click Check now, then Open update.
- On the official release page, download the Windows
Setup.exe. Choose the newest release; the recording shows0.1.0-beta.99. - Finish any work using the connector. Quit Connect from its system-tray menu, run the installer, then open the newly installed app.
- Check Settings → Updates for the new application version and check that the connection is available again.
The recorded Windows preview is explicitly unsigned. Download only from the official mdbase-dev/mdbase-connect release. Do not bypass your organisation’s installation policy or ignore an unexpected security warning.
If the old updater fails
Open the release list directly and follow the download and installation steps above. Some older builds can fail while checking the release index; that does not require removing your collections or creating a new account.
Does updating restart the daemon?
Yes, when the updated app starts and finds an older daemon runtime. It stops the running daemon, installs the runtime bundled with the new app, and checks that the expected version is running. Connected applications may briefly disconnect.
Check now and Open update do not themselves restart it. On Windows, downloading or installing the app is not the last step: make sure you open the new app afterward.
Other installation methods
- macOS automatic updates: Restart and update stops the daemon before installing. The relaunched app activates and checks the new runtime.
- Microsoft Store builds: if Open update opens the Store, update there, then reopen Connect.
- Windows portable ZIP: quit the old app, extract the new release into a separate folder, and launch the new copy. Do not keep launching the old executable.
- Headless CLI-only installations: this video covers the desktop app, not standalone daemon upgrades. Follow the headless installation guide.
